Bryoflor Moss Catalogue

Bryoflor works with several moss species, selected for their behavior, textures, and ability to adapt to a wide range of use contexts Each species has specific characteristics in terms of appearance, exposure, and packaging format

Bryoflor mosses are available in three main formats :

  • Geotextile mat : permanent synthetic PET growing medium, 1 m wide, typically 10 m long Primarily intended for building-related projects (roofs, walls, technical surfaces) as well as decorative applications
  • Biodegradable mat : PLA growing medium combined with nonwoven coconut fiber, 1 m wide, with a maximum length of 2 m Recommended for gardens and ground-cover mosses
  • Panel : PLA growing medium, 30 × 50 cm format (approximately 7 panels/m²) Suitable for gardens and thicker mosses, allowing for modular and precise installation

Dicranum

Acrocarpous moss forming dense, structured cushions with an upright habit.

  • Appearance : compact tufts, firm texture, graphic appearance.
  • Behaviour : slow and stable growth ; good resistance to dry phases.
  • Exposure : shade to light.
  • Interest : durable structure, controlled aesthetics, good long-term stability.
  • Limitation : sensitive to permanent moisture.
  • Bryoflor format : plaque.

Hypnum

Pleurocarpous moss forming soft, continuous carpets with strong covering capacity.

  • Appearance : fine mats, feathery and homogeneous texture.
  • Behaviour : excellent rehydration capacity ; tolerates shade well.
  • Exposure : shade.
  • Interest : rapid coverage, visual continuity, high adaptability.
  • Limitation : may be outcompeted in very nutrient-rich environments.
  • Bryoflor format : geotextile mat, biodegradable mat, plaque.

Polytrichum

Robust acrocarpous moss with a pronounced vertical habit.

  • Appearance : upright stems, rigid foliage, architectural appearance, brown when dry.
  • Behaviour : very good tolerance to drought and exposure.
  • Exposure : light (to partial shade depending on context).
  • Interest : vertical structure, mechanical resistance, strong landscape presence.
  • Limitation : slower establishment, limited fragmentation.
  • Bryoflor format : plaque.

Pseudocleropodium

Intermediate pleurocarpous moss forming dense and resilient mats.

  • Appearance : compact carpets, balanced texture.
  • Behaviour : good tolerance to alternating wet and dry conditions.
  • Exposure : partial shade to light.
  • Interest : alternative to lawn, resilience and stability.
  • Limitation : less tolerant of prolonged drought.
  • Bryoflor format : plaque.

Racomitrium

Pioneer moss adapted to open environments and mineral substrates.

  • Appearance : grey-green mats, silvery appearance when dry.
  • Behaviour : excellent tolerance to drought, wind and sun.
  • Exposure : light.
  • Interest : ideal for mineral supports, concrete, lightweight roofs and exposed contexts.
  • Limitation : highly variable appearance depending on hydration state.
  • Bryoflor format : geotextile mat, biodegradable mat.
