Covering a flat roof in Dordogne

The client was looking for an economical and aesthetic solution to cover the flat roof (100m²) of his house.

Project specifics :

  • Roof difficult to access (impossible to come with a vehicle nearby),
  • ’V’ evacuation through the center of the roof with puddles of water all around,
  • No parapet (raised from the building) to protect from the wind

In November 2021, Bryoflor carried out the installation over one day with 2 people :

  • Installation of a draining layer in the center to protect the carpets from water
  • Installation of foam mat on geotextile
  • Installation of pebbles mainly on the outskirts for the wind

The most tedious being the transportation by a light winch of the materials on the difficult-to-access roof (300kg of carpet and 700kg of pebbles).

Evolution of the roof :

  • September 2022, the roof suffered a lot from the summer
  • January 2023, the moss grows well in raised areas, it is decided to complete the draining layer and reinforce the ballast.
  • December 2023, the moss has endured the summer well and is gradually returning to the roof.
